How to Create Custom Start Menu Tiles in Windows 10

You can also click the two lines at the top-right corner of each group to name it. With all that out of the way, the last thing to consider are how your icons are arranged. Grouping is great if you plan to use a lot of tiles to keep your desktop organized. Very useful if you prefer tiles to desktop icons. Once moved, the tile will stay in place until you move or remove it. What if you want to remove a specific file from a folder?

Customize Start Menu System Settings

For the most part, the main functions are the same as in Windows 8.1, which is to say you can resize, rearrange, and remove tiles. Live tiles might be cool to some, but to many of the rest of us they’re just a flashy animated distraction. You can turn off live tiles, which will convert them to a static tile. Right-click on a tile and you will see options, the first being “Unpin from Start”, which will obviously removes the tile from the Start menu. Some of these settings, such as Use Start full screen, are great options if you are using a Windows 10 tablet. If you like the tiles but don’t want live tiles constantly updating or being distracting you can turn them off to look just like the others.

We'll use the apps for Xbox, Groove Music, Movies & TV, and Netflix as our initial test subjects. Please note that Better StartMenu requires PNG files to create custom Start Menu live tiles. The Helper program saves the tile data, including the name, icon, and path of the program, while Better StartMenu adds the tile onto your Start Menu.
